The wife of Salama ibn Hisham RA is not named in the sources. After the Battle of Mu'tah in 8 AH, when the Muslim army withdrew rather than be destroyed, some in Madinah mocked the men who had fought there as deserters. The Prophet ﷺ noticed that Salama had stopped coming to the masjid and asked his wife about him. She told him, "Ya Rasulullah, he has not come out of his house, because every time he exits, people make fun of him and rebuke him, saying, 'O you who ran away, have you run away from the way of Allah?'" Her words show how the returning soldiers of Mu'tah were being shamed.
