These seven unnamed Companions of the Ansar were among the nine who stayed with the Prophet ﷺ during the chaos of Uhud in 3 AH, when he withdrew to take refuge on the mountain. The details must be pieced together, but it seems that, to throw the pursuing Quraysh off his trail, the Prophet ﷺ sent the Ansar out one at a time as decoys to draw the enemy elsewhere. One by one each went, and each was martyred, until all seven had fallen. Each time, Talha ibn Ubaydillah RA asked to be the next to go, and each time the Prophet ﷺ refused, until only Talha and Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas RA remained with him.
