Nawfal ibn Abdillah ibn al-Mughirah of Banu Makhzum was one of the confederate horsemen at the siege of Madinah in 5 AH. In al-Tabari's report from Ibn Ishaq he stormed the trench, rolled down into it and was stoned, and Ali ibn Abi Talib RA went down and killed him; other retellings credit al-Zubayr ibn al-Awwam RA. Al-Tirmidhi reports that the polytheists wanted to buy back a man's body and the Prophet ﷺ refused to trade with them.
